In April 2014, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture consulted with senior leadership within the livestock and forage industries and the University of Saskatchewan on the future of research and training in the province in support of industry and the provincial economy. Subsequently, a Livestock and Forage Steering Committee (LFSC) was formed, with a mandate to review research, training and outreach capacity within the province relevant to the livestock and forage sectors. The committee was also asked to review current infrastructure, to assess the needs of industry, institutions and researchers, and to identify gaps to be addressed to further grow the livestock and forage sectors in order to achieve the vision for a ruminant livestock and forage centre of excellence.
Consultation with stakeholders was identified as an essential component in the review process and in the development of a plan. Therefore, with preliminary work completed by the LFSC we are pleased to provide a draft plan for comment and input. Please find attached a digital copy of this document.
